You can:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Save specific files and folders offline, including shared drives.<\/li><li>View and organize your files in your computer\u2019s file system without using storage space.<\/li><li>Open files on your computer.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">1. Download &amp; install<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>To download Google Drive for desktop:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/dl.google.com\/drive-file-stream\/GoogleDriveFSSetup.exe\">Download for Windows<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/dl.google.com\/drive-file-stream\/GoogleDrive.dmg\">Download for Mac<\/a><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-ht-blocks-messages wp-block-hb-message wp-block-hb-message--withicon is-style-info\">If the download links do not work and for system requirements, please refer to the official <a href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/drive\/answer\/7329379#zippy=%2Cdownload-install-google-drive-for-desktop\">Google Support article<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>On your computer, open:<ul><li><strong>GoogleDriveFSSetup.exe<\/strong>\u00a0on Windows<\/li><li><strong>GoogleDrive.dmg<\/strong>\u00a0on Mac<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Follow the on-screen instructions.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">2. Open the desktop app<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You can find Google Drive for desktop Menu&nbsp;<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh3.googleusercontent.com\/FxRZSjTLDixh4Kpj0rjLrLA5Qfi85xp-mWNLaPdH_QTHSznXqlhINU2Wf6Zrh4ZcZZE=w36-h36\" width=\"18\" height=\"18\" alt=\"Drive File Stream\">&nbsp;in a different place, depending on what computer you use:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Windows:<\/strong>\u00a0At the bottom right of your screen.<\/li><li><strong>Mac:<\/strong>\u00a0At the top right of your screen.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3. Login with your account<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>After opening Google Drive for Desktop you&#8217;ll be prompted to sign in. Go ahead and sign in with your G.J. Gardner email account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Working with files<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>After logging in you can now view your Google Drive files and folders directly on your desktop. When a file is deleted, it doesn&#8217;t go into the Recycle Bin. Instead, it gets moved to the Trash bin in Google Drive where it can be restored. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-ht-blocks-messages wp-block-hb-message wp-block-hb-message--withicon is-style-alert\">Files in the Google Drive Trash are permanently deleted after 30 days. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Keep files and folders offline<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>To save a file offline, make sure you have an app that can open your file.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Click the Google Drive for desktop Menu\u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"18\" height=\"18\" src=\"https:\/\/lh3.googleusercontent.com\/FxRZSjTLDixh4Kpj0rjLrLA5Qfi85xp-mWNLaPdH_QTHSznXqlhINU2Wf6Zrh4ZcZZE=w36-h36\" alt=\"Drive File Stream\">.<\/li><li>Click Open Google Drive folder\u00a0<img decoding=\"async\" width=\"18\" src=\"https:\/\/lh3.googleusercontent.com\/7Ec9vcITJ4zXXbGeOZwMrYq9p7xezvIsSBVQEChll-9km8UhFtbkVYVziL480_OuWBY=w36\" alt=\"Google Drive folder\">.<\/li><li>Right-click the file or folder you want to save offline.<\/li><li>Click\u00a0<strong>Google Drive for desktop<\/strong>\u00a0<img decoding=\"async\" width=\"auto\" height=\"18\" src=\"https:\/\/lh3.googleusercontent.com\/QbWcYKta5vh_4-OgUeFmK-JOB0YgLLoGh69P478nE6mKdfpWQniiBabjF7FVoCVXI0g=h36\" alt=\"and then\">\u00a0<strong>Available offline<\/strong>.<\/li><li>Once your file is saved offline, you&#8217;ll see a green checkmark next to it.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">See who&#8217;s editing Microsoft Office files in real-time<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>When you store a Microsoft Office file in Google Drive for desktop and share it with people who also have real-time presence turned on, you can see whether anyone else is making changes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Safe to edit<\/strong>: You can make changes in the file because no one else is editing.<\/li><li><strong>Wait to edit<\/strong>: Someone else is editing the file.<ul><li>To get notified when they\u2019re done, check the box next to &#8220;Notify me when it\u2019s safe to edit.&#8221;<\/li><li>To see more about who is editing or viewing the file, click on the person in the list.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li><strong>New version created<\/strong>: Someone created a newer version.<ul><li>To get their new version, click&nbsp;<strong>Get latest<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Combine versions that conflict<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>If someone saves a new version while you\u2019re editing, you can merge your changes into the latest version.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>In the lower right, click&nbsp;<strong>Preview<\/strong>.<\/li><li>Copy changes from your version (on the left) to the latest version (on the right).<\/li><li>Click&nbsp;<strong>Save<\/strong>.<\/li><li>Your unsaved version on the left will be removed.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Give permission on macOS<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>If you use Google Drive for desktop on macOS, you must change your system permissions to see other editors in real time:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>On your Mac, go to&nbsp;<strong>System Preferences<\/strong>&nbsp;<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh3.googleusercontent.com\/QbWcYKta5vh_4-OgUeFmK-JOB0YgLLoGh69P478nE6mKdfpWQniiBabjF7FVoCVXI0g=h36\" width=\"auto\" height=\"18\" alt=\"and then\">&nbsp;<strong>Security &amp; Privacy&nbsp;<\/strong><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh3.googleusercontent.com\/QbWcYKta5vh_4-OgUeFmK-JOB0YgLLoGh69P478nE6mKdfpWQniiBabjF7FVoCVXI0g=h36\" width=\"auto\" height=\"18\" alt=\"and then\">&nbsp;<strong>Privacy<\/strong>&nbsp;<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lh3.googleusercontent.com\/QbWcYKta5vh_4-OgUeFmK-JOB0YgLLoGh69P478nE6mKdfpWQniiBabjF7FVoCVXI0g=h36\" width=\"auto\" height=\"18\" alt=\"and then\">&nbsp;<strong>Accessibility<\/strong>.<\/li><li>At the bottom left, click the lock to make changes.<\/li><li>Next to &#8220;Google Drive for desktop,&#8221; check the box.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Turn off real-time presence<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Real-time presence is automatically turned on.
