You can manage custom fields for specific contact types. This way you can track additional information about contacts within their profiles.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. To manage custom fields, on the navigational sidebar, select <\/span>Setup<\/b>.<\/span><\/li>
  2. Once the Setup section expands, select <\/span>Contacts<\/b>.<\/span><\/li>
  3. On the tabbed menu, select <\/span>Custom Fields<\/b>.<\/span><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    The Custom Fields page opens, as follows:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Here you can see the list of custom fields registered in the system. For each custom field, the following information is available:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Field Name<\/b><\/td>Name of the custom field.<\/span><\/td><\/tr>
    Contact Type<\/b><\/td>Type of the contact which the custom fields attributes to.<\/span><\/td><\/tr>
    Field type<\/b><\/td>Type of the custom field.<\/span><\/td><\/tr>
    Digits\/Length<\/b><\/td>Maximal number of digits\/characters which the field can store. This information varies depending on the field type.<\/span><\/td><\/tr>
    Decimal Places<\/b><\/td>Number of decimal places. This information is available for the number field only.<\/span><\/td><\/tr>
    Required<\/b><\/td>Flag that the field is required. If no flag is shown, the custom field is optional.<\/span><\/td><\/tr>
    Status<\/b><\/td>A red label indicating that the custom field is deactivated. No label is shown for active custom fields.<\/span><\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

    You can perform the following operations on custom fields:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

    • create new custom fields<\/span><\/li>
    • edit the existing custom fields<\/span><\/li>
    • deactivate the no longer needed custom fields<\/span><\/li>
    • activate the deactivated custom fields<\/span><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      Creating a Custom Text Field<\/b><\/h3>\n\n\n\n
      1. On the <\/span>Custom Fields<\/b> tab, above the list of custom fields, click the <\/span>Add \"\"<\/b> icon.<\/span><\/li>
      2. In the <\/span>Create new custom field<\/b> form, specify the following information:<\/span>
        \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
        Contact Type<\/b><\/td>\nSelect the contact type which the custom field attributes to.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
        Field name<\/b><\/td>\nEnter the name of the custom field.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
        Field<\/b> type<\/b><\/td>\nSelect \u2018Text\u2019 from the list of options.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
        Length<\/b><\/td>\nSpecify the maximal length of the custom field.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
        Required<\/b><\/td>\nCheck the box to make the custom field as required.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

      3. When complete, click <\/span>Save<\/b>.<\/span><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

        Creating a Custom Date Field<\/b><\/h3>\n\n\n\n
        1. On the <\/span>Custom Fields<\/b> tab, above the list of custom fields, click the <\/span>Add \"\"<\/b> icon.<\/span><\/li>
        2. In the Create new custom field<\/b> form, specify the following information:
          \n\n\n\n\n\n\n
          Contact Type<\/b><\/td>\nSelect the contact type which the custom field attributes to.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
          Field name<\/b><\/td>\nEnter the name of the custom field.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
          Field<\/b> type<\/b><\/td>\nSelect \u2018Date\u2019 from the list of options.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
          Required<\/b><\/td>\nCheck the box to make the custom field as required.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

        3. When complete, click <\/span>Save<\/b>.<\/span><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

          Creating a Custom Number Field<\/b><\/h3>\n\n\n\n
          1. On the <\/span>Custom Fields<\/b> tab, above the list of custom fields, click the <\/span>Add \"\"<\/b> icon.<\/span><\/li>
          2. In the <\/span>Create new custom field<\/b> form, specify the following information:<\/span>
            \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
            Contact Type<\/b><\/td>\nSelect the contact type which the custom field attributes to.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
            Field name<\/b><\/td>\nEnter the name of the custom field.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
            Field<\/b> type<\/b><\/td>\nSelect \u2018Number\u2019 from the list of options.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
            Digits<\/b><\/td>\nSpecify the number of allowed digits in the custom field. The decimal places are counted towards the number of digits in the custom field.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
            Decimal places<\/b><\/td>\nSpecify the number of decimal places.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
            Required<\/b><\/td>\nCheck the box to make the custom field as required.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

          3. When complete, click <\/span>Save<\/b>.<\/span><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

            Editing the Custom Field<\/b><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

            You can edit the existing custom fields, but you can update the field name and set the field as required or optional. The rest of modifications (such as change of the field type or its length) are not allowed.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

            1. On the list with custom fields, locate the one you want to edit.<\/span><\/li>
            2. Hover over the custom field until the action icons appear.<\/span><\/li>
            3. Click the <\/span>Edit \"\"<\/b> icon.<\/span><\/li>
            4. In the <\/span>Edit custom field<\/b> form, make the appropriate modifications.<\/span><\/li>
            5. When complete, click <\/span>Save<\/b>.<\/span><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

              Deactivating the Custom Field<\/b><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

              You can temporarily deactivate custom fields, so they will no longer appear on the Custom Fields tab in contacts of a specific type. Values of the deactivated custom field will be retained after its activation.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

              1. On the list with custom fields, locate the one you want to deactivate.<\/span><\/li>
              2. Hover over the custom field until the action icons appear.<\/span><\/li>
              3. Click the <\/span>Deactivate \"\"<\/b> icon.<\/span><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n

                Activating the Custom Field<\/b><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

                You can activate the temporarily deactivated custom fields, so they will again appear on the Custom Fields tab in contacts of a specific type.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n

                1. On the list with custom fields, locate the one you want to activate.<\/span><\/li>
                2. Hover over the custom field until the action icons appear.<\/span><\/li>
