They are the smallest units in Bill of Materials (BoM), in Components, and in an amalgamation of Items (they cannot include any other Components).<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Every Item has a unique identifier which looks like an alphanumeric sequence of up to 10 characters.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The system uses the following patterns for differentiating between Items and Components:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Identifiers of Items look like 4 alpha and 4 numeric characters (for example, APPL9160).<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Identifiers of Components look like \u2018COMP\u2019 followed by 4 numeric characters (for example, COMP5260).<\/span><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To manage Items, on the navigational sidebar, select <\/span><b>Setup<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Once the Setup section expands, select <\/span><b>Estimating<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On the tabbed menu, select <\/span><b>Items<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1629\" height=\"903\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/setup-estimating-items.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-579\" srcset=\"https:\/\/help.gjgardner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/setup-estimating-items.png 1629w, https:\/\/help.gjgardner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/setup-estimating-items-300x166.png 300w, https:\/\/help.gjgardner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/setup-estimating-items-1024x568.png 1024w, https:\/\/help.gjgardner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/setup-estimating-items-768x426.png 768w, https:\/\/help.gjgardner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/setup-estimating-items-1536x851.png 1536w, https:\/\/help.gjgardner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/setup-estimating-items-1200x665.png 1200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1629px) 100vw, 1629px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here you can see the list of Items registered in the system. For each Item the following information is available:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td><b>Code<\/b><\/td><td><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A unique identifier of an Item.<\/span><\/td><\/tr><tr><td><b>Description<\/b><\/td><td><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Description of an Item.<\/span><\/td><\/tr><tr><td><b>Sales Tax<\/b><\/td><td><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mark if the sales tax applies to an Item.<\/span><\/td><\/tr><tr><td><b>Cost, $<\/b><\/td><td><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cost in dollars per unit.<\/span><\/td><\/tr><tr><td><b>UoM<\/b><\/td><td><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Unit of measure of an Item.<\/span><\/td><\/tr><tr><td><b>UoM Description<\/b><\/td><td><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Description of a unit of measure.<\/span><\/td><\/tr><tr><td><b>Last Updated<\/b><\/td><td><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Date and time of the last Cost update of an Item.<\/span><\/td><\/tr><tr><td><b>Fml<\/b><\/td><td><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mark that there is a formula attached to an item.<\/span><\/td><\/tr><tr><td><b>Pic<\/b><\/td><td><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mark that an Item has an image attached.<\/span><\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You can perform the following operations on Items:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">add new Items<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">edit the existing Items<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">delete the no longer needed Items<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">undelete the deleted Items<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">view the usage of specific Items<\/span><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><b>To view deleted Items:<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Above the list with Items, locate the Show deleted toggle.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Move the toggle right.<\/span><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You can search for Items by Item code and its description. Enter the search query into the search box and press <strong>Enter<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"block-efb101f4-c790-4d1a-b2dc-5484f253da63\"><strong>Adding an Item<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" id=\"block-20dbdca1-9e96-40c7-9402-074accc69c8f\"><li>Above the list with Items, click the <strong>Add<\/strong>&nbsp;<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"15\" height=\"20\" src=\"https:\/\/help.gjgardner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/create-icon.png\" alt=\"\">&nbsp;icon.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1630\" height=\"816\" src=\"https:\/\/help.gjgardner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/add-item-form.png\" alt=\"\"><\/li><li>On the <strong>Create Item<\/strong> page, specify information about an Item, as follows:<br><strong>Code<\/strong>Enter a unique identifier of an Item according to the pattern.<strong>Description<\/strong>Enter description of an Item.<strong>Cost<\/strong>Enter the cost of an Item.<strong>UoM<\/strong>Select the unit of measure of an Item. UoM description is automatically pre-populated by the system.<strong>Sales Tax<\/strong>Check the box if Sales Tax should be added &nbsp;to an Item.<\/li><li>When complete, click <strong>Process<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-aa8b4fbd-2b09-4c79-adf7-14e945bf2768\">While creating a new Item or editing the existing item, you can add a formula, attach an image of an Item, or leave a memo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"block-5523b4d9-ce45-45ba-831f-c411f8c1309b\"><strong>Adding a Formula<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-94404521-3b3a-4aca-8af5-1bc37613ee57\">You can add a Formula and define Take Off Parameters within it. Such Formula will be carried over to the House Plan\u2019s Items and Components where it may be further modified without affecting the base Item Formula. The defined formula will be used to calculate the Quantity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-1f2b4e93-302a-4dce-8ff6-86ee20c0c2b9\">You can construct a formula from the following sets of elements:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td><strong>Math functions<\/strong><\/td><td>Mathematical functions.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>Operators<\/strong><\/td><td>Mathematical operators.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>Take Off Params<\/strong><\/td><td>Take Off Parameters.<\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>Trig functions<\/strong><\/td><td>Trigonometric functions.<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-5b71bcf5-0ed7-4372-9a2e-87aae50ecec4\"><strong>To construct a formula:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" id=\"block-bce486a8-9a7e-4393-9642-0f6bd70dccba\"><li>Select the appropriate element set and then drag an individual function or parameter to the Formula box.<\/li><li>Add the appropriate operator into the function.<\/li><li>To verify the formula, click <strong>Test<\/strong>.<\/li><li>When complete, click <strong>Save<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-a2e57995-ea02-4800-b8f2-5a0c66796ed6\">To clear the constructed formula, click <strong>Clear<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-4f51b0e8-4e2a-49bc-b9c4-012997810c03\">For the details on constructing the formulas, please see <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/help.gjgardner.com\/au\/expression-builder\/\" target=\"_blank\">Expression Builder<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-cfb0f5de-7e2e-4d8c-83f9-299f32c906f7\"><strong>Note<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre id=\"block-f34b5027-0867-426a-9798-fbddd8762faa\" class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">You cannot save the incorrect formula. The system will position the cursor where an error in the formula occurs.<\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-c522f666-7e98-4b8f-924e-0e912a0af4ef\"><strong>Note<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre id=\"block-614d3dbd-fef8-409d-ae4b-9fd4b9e5ff9b\" class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">If you change the formula of an existing Item or Component, you will be prompted to propagate the modified formula to all or to specific House Plans which used the original formula.<br><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-e005e5c5-8909-4747-9347-27cbcac00daf\"><strong>To propagate the formula to House Plans:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" id=\"block-81d187c6-f794-4e74-b17d-a0e9fd60693f\"><li>Modify the original formula.<\/li><li>Click <strong>Process<\/strong>. The Propagate Formula form opens. Alternatively, you can click the <strong>Propagate&nbsp;<\/strong> icon under the Formula box.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"480\" height=\"562\" src=\"https:\/\/help.gjgardner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/propagate-formula-form-1.png\" alt=\"\"><\/li><li>Select the way of propagating the modified formula to House Plans:<br><strong>All House Plans<\/strong>The modified formula will be propagated to all the House Plans where this formula was used.<strong>Selected House Plans<\/strong>The modified formula will be propagated to the selected House Plans only. You will need to select the specific House Plans.<\/li><li>Click <strong>Propagate<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-2f888306-7b6f-463a-b1b8-c0a61e8751f1\"><strong>Note<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre id=\"block-eca4423b-0645-468d-8391-fd4394f3b940\" class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">If you do not want to propagate the modified formula to House Plans, click <strong>Cancel<\/strong>.<\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-7657d128-a1c0-47cb-bc70-b0db8934c3a1\"><strong>Note<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre id=\"block-e664ef53-e029-4fd6-966b-4fe16157b92d\" class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">Please consider that the modified formula will not be updated in all the estimated Jobs.<\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-74d944be-cd16-4f75-8a0b-6c0ca8d6cb94\"><strong>Note<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre id=\"block-71ddd5f9-18de-40dc-a4ad-d9383bc047ee\" class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">The modified formula will be propagated to House Plans which contain the Item with the prior formula (before modifications were made). All the House Plans with the Item having formulas different from the originally modified formula will not be affected.<\/pre>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"block-8395fa26-8510-4a69-a786-374f14c21a4d\"><strong>Attaching an Image<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-d25699fc-62a5-4251-b3cc-269f9906c341\">You can attach an image or visualization while adding or editing the Item. The following images formats are supported:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\" id=\"block-151598b0-312d-432c-8278-9e25bbed3a96\"><li>*.jpg<\/li><li>*.gif<\/li><li>*.bmp<\/li><li>*.png<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-6015de67-e255-4a74-9b12-02a50fc73075\"><strong>To attach an image:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" id=\"block-e167a5b6-6baa-4406-b551-71347fafaec5\"><li>Create a new Item or edit the existing one.<\/li><li>On the pane, select <strong>Picture<\/strong>.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1629\" height=\"764\" src=\"https:\/\/help.gjgardner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/create-edit-item-picture.png\" alt=\"\"><\/li><li>Click the&nbsp;<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"36\" height=\"40\" src=\"https:\/\/help.gjgardner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/browse-icon.png\" alt=\"\">&nbsp;button and select the image on your computer.<\/li><li>When complete, click <strong>Process<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-8a44f2b5-7a83-4087-ab32-bff03283b5ef\">Alternatively, you attach an image by dropping it on the&nbsp;<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"36\" height=\"40\" src=\"https:\/\/help.gjgardner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/browse-icon.png\" alt=\"\">&nbsp; button.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-bff4ba63-7a0d-469a-8e82-f730e80ed7bc\"><strong>To delete the attached image:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" id=\"block-eea1009c-d015-428e-8b13-5f0f2724b40f\"><li>Click the&nbsp;<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"12\" height=\"16\" src=\"https:\/\/help.gjgardner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/02\/delete-icon.png\" alt=\"\">&nbsp; icon.<\/li><li>When complete, click <strong>Process<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-38fa0f05-4000-4b0e-931a-5cbb95328a2b\"><strong>To download the attached image:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-7df290c2-fa01-4dcf-86c1-4a4134641407\">Click the&nbsp;<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"20\" height=\"14\" src=\"https:\/\/help.gjgardner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/download-icon.png\" alt=\"\">&nbsp;icon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"block-32ba668b-1130-402c-ab91-20d506e17e84\">Adding a Memo<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-12075144-89d3-494c-a706-a9f0abffd782\">You can add optional notes or remarks for Items while adding or editing them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-7c6c27f9-42a8-47d1-b9a2-4adfab1f0459\"><strong>To add a memo:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" id=\"block-7af22382-63b3-40c0-b06a-2b4484ba905e\"><li>Create a new Item or edit the existing one.<\/li><li>On the pane, select <strong>Memo<\/strong>.<\/li><li>Leave your notes in the text area.<\/li><li>When complete, click <strong>Process<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\" id=\"block-98447d20-085a-461e-9646-42f2c1aac657\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/help.gjgardner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/create-edit-item-memo.png\" alt=\"This image has an empty alt attribute\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"block-03b68b4c-c1c8-463a-9261-c4c43fc57781\"><strong>Editing the Item<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" id=\"block-62afa678-27f1-47cc-a544-757e1f74791d\"><li>On the list with Items, locate the one you want to edit.<\/li><li>Hover over the Item, until the action icons appear.<\/li><li>Click the <strong>Edit&nbsp;<\/strong> icon.<\/li><li>On the <strong>Edit Item<\/strong> page, make the appropriate modifications.<\/li><li>When complete, click <strong>Process<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-09b39d9b-4a5a-47f6-8d7b-fed7daab1099\"><strong>Note<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre id=\"block-a4dfa7eb-fe7d-4c39-a250-8521bf7b212e\" class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">If you change the code of the Item, it will be automatically updated in all the entities where it was already in use.<\/pre>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"block-8679999e-20cc-4e12-b087-4fa9ca13dde9\"><strong>Viewing Usage of the Item<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" id=\"block-b7a3f921-fa87-45d0-b8f2-08504dcd18ee\"><li>On the list with Items, locate the one which usage you are interested in.<\/li><li>Hover over the Item, until the action icons appear.<\/li><li>Click the <strong>Display Usage&nbsp;<\/strong> icon.<\/li><li>In the <strong>Item Use<\/strong> form, you can see all the entities where the Item is used.<\/li><li>When complete, close the form.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"block-c0390e51-c5ae-4402-8657-9d2ec462cb59\"><strong>Deleting the Item<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" id=\"block-97af4521-86ab-43b8-bc09-5b0bec99422c\"><li>On the list with Items, locate the one you want to delete.<\/li><li>Hover over the Item, until the action icons appear.<\/li><li>Click the <strong>Delete&nbsp;<\/strong> icon.<\/li><li>In the appeared form, confirm the operation.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-244ebc3d-80f9-4290-bc2c-3975cfb0df69\"><strong>Note<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre id=\"block-aeec57fc-a41c-494e-a27f-bff3664a392f\" class=\"wp-block-preformatted\">If you delete the Item, it will be preserved in all the entities where it was already in use. But this Item will be no longer available for adding into new entities after the deletion.<\/pre>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"block-7b15d9de-8c4a-48cc-8903-7fd28f31ad8a\"><strong>Undeleting the Item<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"block-6a0ed927-1d54-4d91-a8cd-34e941c3f37e\">You can undelete the deleted Item and further use it in the system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" id=\"block-4ba0f146-2668-48d4-b3bf-33edcea7f213\"><li>Enable display of deleted Items.<\/li><li>On the list with Items, locate the one you want to undelete.<\/li><li>Hover over the Item, until the action icons appear.<\/li><li>Click the <strong>Undelete&nbsp;<\/strong> icon.<\/li><li>In the appeared form, confirm the operation.<\/li><\/ol>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Items represent the simplest building blocks for estimation.
