They are comprised of individual Items and form a single entity for estimating.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Every Component has a unique identifier which looks like an alphanumeric sequence of up to 10 characters.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The system uses the following patterns for differentiating between Items and Components:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Identifiers of Items look like 4 alpha and 4 numeric characters (for example, APPL9160).<\/span><\/li><li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Identifiers of Components look like \u2018COMP\u2019 followed by 4 numeric characters (for example, COMP5260).<\/span><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to view the components list<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To manage Components, on the navigational sidebar, select <\/span><b>Setup<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Once the Setup section expands, select <\/span><b>Estimating<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On the tabbed menu, select <\/span><b>Components<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-592\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/setup-estimating-components.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1629\" height=\"809\" srcset=\"https:\/\/help.gjgardner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/setup-estimating-components.png 1629w, https:\/\/help.gjgardner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/setup-estimating-components-300x149.png 300w, https:\/\/help.gjgardner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/setup-estimating-components-1024x509.png 1024w, https:\/\/help.gjgardner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/setup-estimating-components-768x381.png 768w, https:\/\/help.gjgardner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/setup-estimating-components-1536x763.png 1536w, https:\/\/help.gjgardner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/setup-estimating-components-1200x596.png 1200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1629px) 100vw, 1629px\" \/><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here you can see the list of Components registered in the system. For each Component the following information is available:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td><b>Code<\/b><\/td><td><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A unique identifier of a Component.<\/span><\/td><\/tr><tr><td><b>Description<\/b><\/td><td><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Description of a Component.<\/span><\/td><\/tr><tr><td><b>Cost, $<\/b><\/td><td><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cost in dollars per one Component.<\/span><\/td><\/tr><tr><td><b>UoM<\/b><\/td><td><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Unit of measure of a Component.<\/span><\/td><\/tr><tr><td><b>UoM Description<\/b><\/td><td><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Description of a unit of measure.<\/span><\/td><\/tr><tr><td><b>Last Updated<\/b><\/td><td><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Date and time of the last Cost update in a Component.<\/span><\/td><\/tr><tr><td><b>Fml<\/b><\/td><td><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mark that there is a formula attached to a Component.<\/span><\/td><\/tr><tr><td><b>Pic<\/b><\/td><td><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mark that a Component has an image attached.<\/span><\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You can perform the following operations on Components:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">add new Components<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">manage Items within Components<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">edit the existing Components<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">delete the no longer needed Components<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">undelete the deleted Components<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">view the usage of specific Components<\/span><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>To view deleted Components<\/b><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Above the list with Components, locate the Show deleted toggle.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Move the toggle right.<\/span><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You can search for Components by Component code and its description. UoM description is automatically pre-populated by the system.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When complete, click <\/span><b>Process<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While creating a new Component or editing the existing Component, you can add a formula, attach an image of a Component, or leave a memo.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Managing Items within the Component<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You can add individual Items into the Component while creating a new one or edit the existing one. The system will automatically calculate the cost of the Component on the basis of costs of individual Items within it.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For each Item the following information is available:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td><b>Code<\/b><\/td><td><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A unique identifier of an Item.<\/span><\/td><\/tr><tr><td><b>Description<\/b><\/td><td><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Description of an Item.<\/span><\/td><\/tr><tr><td><b>Cost, $<\/b><\/td><td><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cost in dollars per one Item.<\/span><\/td><\/tr><tr><td><b>Cost Cen<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/td><td><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Number of the Cost Center which the Item at the current cost attributes to.<\/span><\/td><\/tr><tr><td><b>Qty<\/b><\/td><td><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Quantity of Items used within the Component.<\/span><\/td><\/tr><tr><td><b>UoM<\/b><\/td><td><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Unit of measure of an Item.<\/span><\/td><\/tr><tr><td><b>Extension<\/b><\/td><td><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The calculated cost of Items within the Component (Item cost multiplied by Quantity).<\/span><\/td><\/tr><tr><td><b>Deleted<\/b><\/td><td><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mark that the Item has been deleted.<\/span><\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You can manage Items within Components, as follows:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">add new Items<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">remove the no longer needed Items<\/span><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><b>To add a new Item:<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You can add multiple instances of the same Item into the Component. You can start typing the number or name of the Cost Center and the system will suggest possible matches.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Select the Cost Center.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Once all the associations are added, click <\/span><b>Recalculate<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. It locates in the header (next to the Process icon).<\/span><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The system will recalculate the cost of the Component on the basis of extensions of Items within it.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To save modifications in the Component, click <\/span><b>Process<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><b>To remove Items from the Component:<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Edit the Component.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On the list with Items, locate the one you want to remove from the Component.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hover over the Item until the action icon appears.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Click the <\/span><b>Remove&nbsp;<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-255 alignnone\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/remove-icon.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"16\" height=\"10\"><\/b> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> icon.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Click <\/span><b>Recalculate<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To save modifications, click <\/span><b>Process<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Adding a Formula<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You can add a Formula and define Take Off Parameters within it. Such Formula will be carried over to the House Plan\u2019s Items and Components where it may be further modified without affecting the base Item Formula. The defined formula will be used to calculate the Quantity.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You can construct a formula from the following sets of elements:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td><b>Math functions<\/b><\/td><td><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mathematical functions.<\/span><\/td><\/tr><tr><td><b>Operators<\/b><\/td><td><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mathematical operators.<\/span><\/td><\/tr><tr><td><b>Take Off Params<\/b><\/td><td><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Take Off Parameters.<\/span><\/td><\/tr><tr><td><b>Trig functions<\/b><\/td><td><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Trigonometric functions.<\/span><\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><b>To construct a formula:<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Select the appropriate element set and then drag an individual function or parameter to the Formula box.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Add the appropriate operator into the function.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To verify the formula, click <\/span><b>Test<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When complete, click <\/span><b>Save<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-598\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/create-component-formula.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1625\" height=\"816\" srcset=\"https:\/\/help.gjgardner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/create-component-formula.png 1625w, https:\/\/help.gjgardner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/create-component-formula-300x151.png 300w, https:\/\/help.gjgardner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/create-component-formula-1024x514.png 1024w, https:\/\/help.gjgardner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/create-component-formula-768x386.png 768w, https:\/\/help.gjgardner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/create-component-formula-1536x771.png 1536w, https:\/\/help.gjgardner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/create-component-formula-1200x603.png 1200w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1625px) 100vw, 1625px\" \/><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To clear the constructed formula, click <\/span><b>Clear<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For the details on constructing the formulas, please see <a href=\"\/nz\/expression-builder\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Expression Builder<\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><b>Note<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You cannot save the incorrect formula. The system will position the cursor where an error in the formula occurs.<\/span><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p><b>Note<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you change the formula of an existing Item or Component, you will be prompted to propagate the modified formula to all or to specific House Plans which used the original formula.<\/span><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p><b>To propagate the formula to House Plans:<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Modify the original formula.<\/span><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Click <b>Process<\/b>. The Propagate Formula form opens. Alternatively, you can click the <b>Propagate&nbsp;&nbsp;<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-583 alignnone\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/propagate-icon.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"12\" height=\"15\"><\/b> icon under the Formula box.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-599\" src=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/propagate-formula-form-2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"562\" srcset=\"https:\/\/help.gjgardner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/propagate-formula-form-2.png 480w, https:\/\/help.gjgardner.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/propagate-formula-form-2-256x300.png 256w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Select the way of propagating the modified formula to House Plans:<\/span><br>\n<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td><b>All House Plans<\/b><\/td>\n<td><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The modified formula will be propagated to all the House Plans where this formula was used.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td><b>Selected House Plans<\/b><\/td>\n<td><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The modified formula will be propagated to the selected House Plans only. You will need to select the specific House Plans.<\/span><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/li><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Click <\/span><b>Propagate<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p><b>Note<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you do not want to propagate the modified formula to House Plans, click <\/span><b>Cancel<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p><b>Note<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Please consider that the modified formula will not be updated in all the estimated Jobs.<\/span><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p><b>Note<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-preformatted\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The modified formula will be propagated to House Plans which contain the Component with the prior formula (before modifications were made). All the House Plans with the Component having formulas different from the originally modified formula will not be affected.<\/span><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Attaching an Image<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You can attach an image or visualization while adding or editing the Item. The following images formats are supported:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">*.jpg<\/span><\/li><li
