For example, if the wrong amount is paid by the client or the bank, or if an invoice is accidentally paid twice.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If the overpayment is made by mistake, your first action should always be to contact the customer, explain the situation and agree on a process to rectify it, which may include refunding the overpayment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The next step is to ensure your accounts are corrected and that they represent how the situation is to be resolved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>In the <strong>Business menu<\/strong>, select <strong>Invoices<\/strong>.<\/li><li>Find and open the invoice that has been overpaid.<\/li><li>Under <strong>Receive a payment<\/strong>, enter the total amount you received, then click <strong>Add Payment<\/strong>.<br><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Click 'Add Payment' on a bill or invoice after you've entered the total payment you've paid or received.\" src=\"https:\/\/lh4.googleusercontent.com\/Ew3JzAQ6d2kkL0ZUUSuUzbEg7MAWYHM7RUrdPD5vLVaHiY-bvlh8LEtjCdWAkrYCBwJaSnja1MR-AuZIfXYm0zQcfU8M_8Ha4EvP0H8kbyKNxGhs7GTfCU2rmOgTOAN0SMfCRnUI1TU-c_qpOIqbNKa8SIhFJVu2GTmVzdbLjNnlivK3IGJTucCtqQ\" width=\"451\" height=\"113\"><\/li><li>Because the amount entered is more than the outstanding amount on the invoice, another payment will appear (See below).
